Hello, Beautybugs! I recently got this product from a friend of mine who traveled to Bangkok (sadly because it’s not available in my country; Indonesia, yet!). As we can see, this product has been raved about for quite some time now. Especially if you’re stumbling across through Instagram Makeup world. I’m still using Make Up Forever’s HD Foundation though, but after have used the Ultra HD one multiple times since, I think it’s fair I spoke about it now.
Do I like it? Does it really do what it claims? Does it have better formula than the original one? Let’s jump in to the review!
What it claims
Created for the very latest high definition technologies of the film and TV Industry, Ultra HD advanced formulas look invisible on 4K camera and to the naked eye. Perfect for the makeup pros and for you.
Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation feels like a second skin, but it still provides medium coverage, and the light-diffusing formula looks natural and makes skin look flawless and feel moisturized. Exclusive 4K Complex guarantees invisible, natural, and comfortable makeup. The fluid texture blends in seamlessly and conceals imperfections to unify the skin’s texture.
The packaging of the foundation looks pretty much the same with the HD Foundation. It’s a plastic bottle which is great because it means travel-friendly. The only visible difference is the Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Foundation has metal rim around in the middle of the bottle.
The consistency is watery and light. When the first time I applied with a damped beauty blender, it looks really natural on my skin (which really has light coverage). And I tried using Sigma F80 Brush on the other day, and it got much better result. And what I noticed is the Ultra HD Foundation formula is now more dewy than the original ones. Which is not as thick as the previous one, but still providing that famous light-diffusing invisible medium coverage.
The Make Up Forever’s Ultra HD Foundation contains these ingredients:
Amino Acid Coated Pigments reflective particles that blur flaws for translucent, invisible coverage.
Hyaluronic Spheres hydrate and plump the skin for a longer, more comfortable wear.
Sericite a fine grained mica that adds light reflecting properties to create a radiant and luminous effect, mimicking the vibrancy of naturally beautiful skin.
If you’re just wearing one layer, it gives you the very natural finish (if you’re lucky enough for not having any acne scars nor blemishes!). Bearing in mind, I love medium-to-full coverage foundation. So, I applied a first layer, and the foundation buffed into my skin beautifully. And since I love medium-to-full coverage foundation, I applied a second layer on top of the areas that need more coverage, like my around my mouth, to cover hyper-pigmentation without looking cakey or too overdone. The foundation instantly sank into my skin delivered a natural, satin finish. It also doesn’t feel like I’m wearing foundation! It’s so lightweight that I have no issues wearing it all day long. And my face looked hella flawless but not that kind of heavy-finish whatsoever! Spots and blemishes are totally gone!
Since I wasn’t the one who bought this product, all I can do was just looking at the shade chart and asking my friend to swatch some shades of the products (Thanks, Riyanni!)
I was having hard time to choose between #120 and #123 (I’m using the shade #120 in MUFE HD foundation though), but since I just got back from holiday and getting tanned, so I’m ended up with #123, which is light-to-medium olive with yellow undertone. And surprise surprise, it really suits with my skintone perfectly!
I’m pretty impressed with how nice it looked on my face. It did look good in person as well as on camera. It photographs beautifully and seamlessly as well. And also it does feel like a second skin just as what it claims. The coverage I was able to build up to stayed that way. I scratched my nose a few times, and I didn’t see that much foundation come off either. Despite of the price, I feel as if it’s totally worth the money. I haven’t had any issues wearing that on my acne-prone skin, and it hasn’t caused any breakouts whatsoever!
If I had to compare to the original ones which is MUFE HD Foundation, I like the coverage on the original formula much better than the newer formula. But if I’m talking about the finishing on my skin, I would definitely go for the newer formula which is MUFE Ultra HD Foundation.
What are your thoughts on the MUFE HD Foundation and MUFE Ultra HD Foundation? Which one did you like better?
I hope you enjoyed my review, and thanks for stopping by!
